How to use Text Mode

Start with the mode, then keep the whole studio workflow.

01

Choose a readable stitch font

Block 5 × 7 gives letters more detail; Compact 3 × 5 keeps short labels and dates smaller.

02

Scale with the finished piece in mind

Use one stitch per font pixel for compact work or a 2 × 2 stitch scale for larger, bolder lettering.

03

Continue in the shared studio

Recolour letters, add surrounding stitches, use advanced stitch tools, track progress and prepare the standard exports.

Truthful limits

Know what this mode does before you begin.

  • Text supports up to 3 lines and 40 characters per line.
  • Input is converted to uppercase and supports A–Z, 0–9, spaces and the common punctuation shown by the studio.
  • The two bitmap stitch fonts are project-owned designs; arbitrary desktop or web fonts are not imported.

Frequently asked

Useful answers, not a thin mode variant.

How much text can I use?+

A text chart accepts up to 3 lines and 40 characters per line, provided the selected font and scale remain within the 300 × 300 stitch limit.

Which characters are supported?+

The stitch fonts support uppercase A–Z, digits 0–9, spaces and common punctuation. Unsupported characters are rejected before a chart is created.

Can I edit the lettering after generation?+

Yes. Generated lettering becomes an editable chart, so individual stitches can be drawn, erased or recoloured in Pattern Studio.
